Area Attractions
what to see & do
The Coromandel Peninsula has some of the most beautiful, unspoilt beaches
& forest in New Zealand - all of it
an easy drive from Bushland Park
Lodge.
We can tell you how to find deserted white sand beaches bordering
a blue ocean. Opoutere Beach being (where you will likely be the only
people there), Hot Water Beach (where springs of near-boiling water erupt
through the sand) and Catherdral Cove (made famous in the Chronicals of
Narnia movie) are just a few of the Coastal Attractions
a short drive
away.
While for a complete contrast the Wentworth Valley itself offers
bush-walks, bathing in crystal clear streams and the fascination and
mystery of relics from the areas long-gone Gold-Rush days.
Here, a variety of things the Coromandel Peninsula offers:

Whangamata 5 km beach close to downtown

Opoutere Beach remote and "well kept secret"

Walk (45min) to Cathedral Cove at Hahei

around low tide "50 °C bath at the beach"

Diving in Tairua, 30 mins north of Whangamata

Fishing Charters everywhere

Driving Creek Railway, Coromandel Town

Rapaura Watergardens

Wether you plan to be out for the day, or just for a couple of hours; in
your car or just on foot, there is the perfect trip to suit. Return to
Bushland Park for a well earned meal, or ask Reinhard & Petra to
prepare a packed lunch
to take with you.
